What do I look for in a good vaccum cleaner?
Question:I want something with good sucking power. Is 2400W good?

Okay, you get what you pay for. I bought a Meile vacuum that worked wonderfully for over 10 years. Then the attachment for the suction broke. The motor still works and it functions well. We use it with the other attachments for wooden flooring. I did buy a new one. I got the red velvet model. It was expensive compared to Hoover, Sears, Bissel etc but it does a great job and it lasts forever. Meile.com will get you there. i am sure they have less expensive models too and it is worth a look.
I don't know all the specifics, but i just bought a wonderful vacuum this weekend and its sucks in the best way. i am telling everyone i know to get one. its the bissell momentum. i was gonna get a dyson, but i cant imagine it being any better than my bissell. the best part is: it was under $100!
I have owned an oreck for 11 years. The only thing is that it is an upright, but it is lightweight and does a great job cleaning all the rugs.
