How do you clean throw pillows from a sofa?
Question:I don't want to put the pillows in the wash because they will fall apart. I love these pillows but they are old, and I have dogs that tend to lay on them even though they are not supposed to. They are dirty beyond spot washing. Suggestions? Thanks for your help?

I have throw pillows that actually came with my couch and loveseat. They were made of a sturdy cotton matterial with cording around them. I was afraid to wash them as well, but I put a few in the washer at a time on delicate cyle and cold water. Then, in the dryer on low heat, and they turned out great. (If they have fringe. place them in pillow cases first.) If yours are dirty from dogs...I wouldn't want to lay my head on them. If this doesn't work, I'd buy new machine washable pillows to replace them. Good luck.
Try the dry cleaner bags.
Get som spot shot, spray them a little, then vacuum them
rent a steam cleaner and use that to wash your pillows
Try Febreeze (was that spelled correctly?)...or you can put them in the wash on gentle cyle and hope for the best.
If you are that desperate, dry cleaning.
use the cleaning upholstrey tool on a carpet cleaner
i suggest you get new throw pillows if theyre going to fall apart in the wash... they shouldnt fall apart in the wash.
Seriously, Be practical. Get new washable pillows. Nothing last forever, holding on to them is unsanitary and does not look nice.
I like those oxyclean all purpose cleaners. Takes most stains out of everything.
Try hand washing them and hang them to dry.
Gently cut out the thread on one seam of the pillow. Remove the stuffing, if it is smelly and old, replace it with store bought stuff or wash up old nylons and use to stuff your pillows(My mom did this when we were growing up). Hand wash, soak in oxygen cleaner, and rinse with vinegar water and then plain water. Let dry outside in the sun, wrong side out to preserve the color, then add back in the stuffing of your choice and machine or hand sew the seam shut again. If you aren't a sewer, ask a friend who sews if they will help you with this, maybe have her over for lunch for her help.
frebreze and put them out side in the windy sunny day smells good
