Odd new bug in kitchen- Help?
Question:First off let me just say I keep a very clean house and very rarely see any bugs at all- execpt for the occasional fly that gets in when the door is left open too long.
The last few days I keep finding these teeny-tiny little soft brown bugs in my kitchen. At first it looks like little crumbs on the counter but they are little about 1/4 mm long and all brown like a little worm- type catepillar. no wings- no other colors.
Also, i tried searching online and was unable to find any pictures like it- thanks it is driving me crazy!

They sound like flour beetles.. check out all your flour and cereal products.. sometimes they come in with the food..
If you get rid of the products and wash well with disinfectant no need for fumigation.. Hope this helps..
maybe fly maggots.
I think I'd call in an exterminator and let them evaluate what it is and check your house to see if they are anywhere else. That way you can have them take care of the problem while they are there before those things take over and spread throughout the house.
They may be the larvae of those tiny beetles that actually hatch out in flour and cereal products. Pancake batter and boxed mixes are the most common place to find them. Once they turn into adults, the little brown beetles roam everywhere. We had them in our kitchen once, and ended up throwing away all cereal, crackers and boxed mixes, cleaning the shelves and cupboards thoroughly with bleach and hot water (or ammonia). In Alaska, the infestations are more common, as our boxed goods have sat on the shelf longer. I used to transfer everything into plastic or glass sealable containers.
They are harmless, it's just gross to find wiggly things in your biscuit mix or at the bottom of a cereal box!
Sorry... I haven't a clue? Are they still there?
