Oil is one thing, easy but tumeric is the kiss of death.
Sorry, if your carpet isn't white and can't take bleach (colorfast or not) then I think you're done.
My standby is Fels Naptha soap, it's a hundred years old and gets any kind of oil out of almost any kind of material. It's in the laundry ailse, give it a whirl. Use some pre soak to dampen the spot before you scrub the bar of soap directly onto the spot.
Good luck. Tumeric, I hold out no hope.
Ouch. Tumeric really is the kiss of death (I should know, as I just got back from India). If you've already tried steam cleaning, and have already tried a de-greasing detergent, then you are probably best off either covering the area with a rug, cutting a replacement patch out of an area under the couch, or using watered-down paint to tint the carpet.
