S.O.S..can you help me get out of this rut?

Question:Okay, so...my apartment is disgusting. I have no idea how it got this way. Well, maybe I do.I've been overworked and overstressed and fell into this blah..."I can't be bothered and I don't care what my apartment looks like" rut.

Well, I quit the job that was killing me and took some time off. I'm now working again, but my job and workload is fabulous. However, my apartment is still disgusting.

I don't even know where to start and for whatever reason, even though I'm so unhappy seeing it the way it is, I just can't get myself to take care of it. I mean, it's reeeally really bad.

So, my question is.

Have you ever had this problem? I'm normally a pretty obsessive compulsive person, so this is a mystery to me.

How can I change this? Obviously , I know I need to clean...but why can't I get myself to do it even though I hate how it looks and it makes me feel awful every time I come home?

Any super-clean methods that work for you to quickly get the job done?

Answers:
A friend of mine went through the same thing with her home. She was depressed over a divorce situation. She bought all the cleaning supplies posted the receipt (cost was about 50 bucks) in the room she was cleaning, so she was faced with I spent this money for something. She started in the smallest room of her home;her guest bathroom. This motivated her to clean after wards she through a "Damn it IS clean" party to show off her beautiful home to all of her friends (most had stopped going over)but some had even got in there and helped her.

Use lysol and bleach the mold
Go to the gas station. Buy a five-gallon tank of gas. BURN BABY BURN!
The only method that works for me(and I have been exactly where you are) is to make a list and start at the top. It's kind of like just jumping in the middle and working your way out, but with a plan.
Hire a cleaning crew to come in and do it for you. I just had surgery and I couldnt clean and for about 2 weeks my house wasn't touched. It was disgusting. I know how you feel overwhelmed. After they do it you start with a clean slate. (pun intended :) It really shouldn't cost that much since it is an apartment.
I had a similar problem, so I called a cleaning service and set up a time for them to do a routine cleaning job in 2 weeks ($75). This gave me the motivation to clean my house before they arrived. I think some areas were still pretty gross when they arrived, but all of the "crap" was gone.
Hire someone for a one time deep cleaning-trust me it's worth it and better for you in the long run. Or hire someone for two days-this will help you feel better about yourself and your place. Your home is so important, not just a place to sleep or watch TV. It's your home, take care of it and be proud of it. If you can't afford someone, start with one room at a time and go from there.
Just make a list for each room and what needs to be done in each room. Then, pick a room and start the list. And quit over thinking it and just do something.
Flylady.net kicks *** and tells you how to do it when comes to cleaning and clutter. Or just set a timer, tackle what you can and come back to it later. This way it is in manageable chunks!
well,
do not have plans in the weekend!! from friday nite till saturday nite it'll be clean up time!! (so if you have something to do, you can do it on sunday)
ask some friends (or maybe a friend, a sister, a bro, or whatever... u call 'em) to help you out. (believe me, disgusting apartement will takes a lot of time to clean it all by your self.)
don't forget to buy everything that u need before doing the clean up (so u'll stop wasting the clean up time to buy something that u could bought before.) then it's clean time :D

(ps: try to clean the less disgusting part first.. dunno why but it helps me ^^)

happy clean time ^^
