I spilled vinegar on my carpet and it's now growing a fungus. How do I get rid of it?

Question:I didn't realize that the bottle was leaking until it was almost gone. The fungus/mold is growing at the top of the shag. The fungus will regrow within an hour after vacuuming and cleaning it up. How do I clean this up? I'm in an apartment and don't want to get into trouble.

Answers:
You need to wash out the vinegar. You have to put quite a lot of water on the spot. But when its done and dry sprinkle baking soda to take away any odor that may be left. good luck

Apply a thin layer of chalk powder, allow it to absorb all venegar, then blow by hot air from your vacuum cleaner. then vacuum the carpet.
Go to the grocery store and rent one of those steam-cleaner vacuum units. You should probably plan on doing the whole room so that the spot isn't quite so obvious. But you definitely want to get the best "rinse" you can of that space. It will probably take several passes of the machine to get all the residue out of the carpet.
