Can you tell me how do i clean old coins.?
Question:i have some old coins and they look dirty, how do i clean them without ruining them.
Answers:
If they are old enough to be valuable, don't clean them. Any cleaning will diminish their value. Contact a coin dealer and ask what to do, he can tell you which ones might be rare.
There is a type of polisher that can be used to clean coins without ruining them
rub lemon
You need to be very careful when cleaning anything old as doing it incorrectly can decrease the value.
If your coins arn't very valuable try dipping them in tomato ketchup for a few minutes and then washing them off in hot soapy water, the vinegar in the ketchup will remove the scale on your coins.
Cillit bang as advertised by Barry scott on tv!
Try Mr Muscle
Leave them in Coke it really works
If they're valuable, don't clean them. If they're not, dropping 'em in cola overnight will do the trick.
toothpaste works great it also works well on silverware
and silver jewelry
Lemon juice and salt.
Do not clean then..it reduce their value.
if you clean them you ruin them.Leave them alone they are worth more dirty. they like them that way.
Coke does work, just let them sit for a few days and see.
vinegar
Dip them in Tar-nex cleaner (available at any hardware store), then rinse with warm water. Really does a great job on my silver table service!! Best of all, no scrubbing or waiting! My mom used it and now I do. :)
if there is any chance they could be valuable DONT they will loose all their value
brown sauce, put them in a saucer and cover with sauce, dont use vinegar it is too harsh
try some brown sauce it really works
If they are valuable, then I would leave them alone and seek expert advice. Otherwise vinegar and salt works quite well, or leaving them in coke for a couple of days, and Brasso works really well.
Try boiling in vinegar
mettal polish is good. Vinegar is very good, and Coke works too
soak them in coke/pepsi overnight, then, rinse and dry in the morning. It really does work.
Don't ever clean coins.
coca-cola, vinegar, or if badly stained use a vinegar solution and bicarbonate of soda on a hankie and rub gently hope they are worth something lol!!
If you really want to clean them, use a pencil eraser. Don't use Coke or Pepsi, they eat through metal if left for too long! Try putting a simple nail in a coke and let it sit for a few days... you'll see what I mean. Best bet is to contact a reputable coin dealer and ask them what is best.
I'd give coke a try. Leave the coins in for a day or two. If that doesn't work call a hobby shop and see if they know how to clean them.
HI, IM NOT BARRY SCOTT AND IM HERE TO TELL ****YOU**** ABOUT CILLIT BANG!!!
JUST LOOK WHAT IT DOES TO THIS OLD COIN!
hydroperoxide in water in a bowl and throw them in for a while and them rub them with a wet cloth.
