Carpet Stain, from tile floor stripper that spilled. How to remove?
Question:Was wondering if anyone knows how to remove floor stripper (used for tile floors to remove old wax) off of carpet I have tried resolve, spray and wash and also bissell carpet cleaner solutions to no avail. I also used these items with a bissell steam cleaner and hot water...
Answers:
Unfortunately, the stripper has most likely altered the carpet fibers, chemically. you will not be able to get the stain out, with anything less than a knife. (no kidding) Most carpets today are made of polyolefins, nylons, etc. The more expensive carpets may be made from 'natural' fibers, but most are synthetic. When a chemical stripper comes in contact with synthetic fibers, it attacks it. The stain that is left cannot be removed. The best you can do is replace it. If you are lucky and have some of the same carpet in a closet, or happen to have some extra laying about, then you can have the stain cut out, and replaced. This takes a little skill, and I would recommend calling in a carpet business to tackle it.
One other option you might try. have the carpet re-dyed. Again, this is a job for someone who does it professionally...I'd get some estimates, and compare that with replacing the carpet altogether.
Good Luck
