I have a 50 year old piece of Itailan marble that is stained. How do I get the stains out if its possible?

To remove stain of an unknown origin, try hydrogen peroxide mixed with cream of tartar or non-gel toothpaste, rubbed in with a soft cloth and rinsed off.
I'd look in the phone book for a place that sells marble and call them. They would know what to tell you.
