Want to make it easy on yourself? Just go buy a bottle of gel "Shout." It will be on the aisle with laundry detergents. Rub it in well and then rub it off. You may need to repeat.
Also, lighter fluid works great on ink. But blot it quickly and let it dry, then use mild soapy water to remove any residue.
Here's a GREAT video for you too, explaining how to combine the stain remover (Shout) with other liquids to get a complete removal: http://www.ehow.com/how_2598_remove-ink-...
Couple of things you can try here. You can use a clean or new sponge and rubbing alcohol and blot at it with that, if it doesn't remove the spot, you can blot it using a cheap regular old hairspray (alcohol is the main ingredient that removes the ink though) or use a dry cleaning spot remover. I recommend that everyone has one of those kits from the laundry isle. Just follow the directions for the spot remover.
This might sound a bit mental, but hairspray removes ink from fabric (tried it once with a fountain pen spill). Are they the type of rugs you can launder?
