I have just watched Kim and Aggie in `How Clean Is Your House?` How can people live in squalor like that?
Question:It was totally disgusting. The kitchen was thick with grease, the living room was unmentionable. The Kids' bedroom was filthy and the bathroom...Well I won't even mention that.
The couple who own the home haven't tidied up for SIX years.
How on Earth can people live in a mess like that?

ive just spent 3 weeks having carpet and painting done in my house along with some other things.so my house was upside down for the whole time. It was such a pain to have to step over things, move stuff from here to there.pick up garbage laid around cause we couldnt find the garbage can.it was a disaster and made even my sleep uncomfortable knowing it was all waiting for me when I woke up..its all back in order now but it makes me wonder how people can live that way on purpose. isnt it easier to get around a fairly tidy house then a pit? makes life so much easier...you can find things.see the floor...not afraid to sit down somewhere.or invite people over.sigh.
maybe its some kind of gift they have to be able to completely ignore chaos around them.i cant do it.
I wonder that too. But have to say scrubbing ouse is not really my forte. Worst offence I do is neglect the dust. Slap me!
I can't believe that that show is real. Surely people couldn't live like that and its all set up for tv ratings. Can't imagine anyone living in that kind of dirt
I know I can't understand it either, some people are so disgusting!! I can't believe that people can live like that and not be ashamed about it. Some people are just dirty and lazy I guess, can't say I associate with people like that lol!
They do though don't they!, probably got used to the mess so oblivious to it, never mind if that is how they wan't to live.
I bet there were some houses so dirty that they decided to burn it down and rebuild rather than clean it up, but it wouldn't burn because the house was so disgusting that the fire didn't want to get any dirt on it.
I personally think the show makes people's house appear more dirtier than it actually is. Do you notice at the beginning of the show there is a lack of lighting and the rooms look grey and dreary looking, but at the end of the show it is as if the sun is shining directly in to every room.
Also what I don't get about that show is that at the end they bring the family in to show them their new clean house and they act all surprised at how clean it is. The thing is though, all through the show Kim and Aggie are showing them tips to clean their home whilst in the background you can see the professional cleaners cleaning away. So how is it a surprise? If they are helping with the cleaning they can see the changes taking place so why do they act surprised??
Beats me, too!! I have some inlaws that live like that and I refuse to go visit them unless I have to. I can't, for the life of me, understand why they want to live like that. Every time I do go to visit, they start picking up and giving excuses on why nothing is done. I understand everybody has a job and don't want to clean after a long day but if you put things back where they belong it won't get cluttered or nasty. I love my family but don't like to visit them.

I don't know anyone that could live like that. It's disgusting...not that hard to keep a house clean if you have a system. I clean my house every Saturday morning, wait a minute, maybe I need to get a life!
I had a friend who lived like that, infact her house was possibly worse, and she had a couple of incontinent dogs as well! that went anywhere, inside or out! . My first visit to her home was a shock, she didn't seem at all bothered to let someone in with her home resembling a rubbish tip. i came home itching and spent about an hour in the shower. Visited very rarely after that, and had to use the old morticians trick of smearing vicks vaporub under my nose when I did go the smell was that bad!!
I have a sister and brother-in-law who lives that way it makes me sick.thru the years they have trashed rentals and homes they were supposedly buying.they don't even clean up dog feces.they are totally disgusting.my sister moved in with her daughter to keep from cleaning up the mess.they are no longer welcome in my house because they lack morals and smell just like their nasty house.
I think a better question is who the heck builds those cheap, small houses over there?! It's insane how they not only live in the filth, but have such cheap walls and cramped quarters! lol!
I just love to watch these shows, i wonder how people could really allow it to be filmed for the whole of the population to see if my home looked like some you see on telly i would die from embarrassment it does not take long to keep a home clean and tidy these people are just lazy we all have to work but not every ones house look like that.
I work as a plumber for an estate agent, and have to put things right in houses and flats after people have left without paying rent. You would not believe what I come across in my job. one house had the toilet blocked up to the toilet seat and when they couldn't use the toilet anymore, they crapped on the bathroom floor for a while. Another one was to repair a gas cooker that wasn't working. When I went to fix it, I was standing in 2 inches of grease all over the kitchen floor. I have seen white sheets that have been on the bed for so long that they are black in the middle and the bed was crawling with bed bugs. I think tramps live cleaner than these people. another time I had to put things right in a house where the gas had been cut of for not paying the bill. I opened the front door to find that the staircase had gone. They had broken it up for firewood and had a fire in the old boarded up fireplace.
I have seen it to. It makes me wonder also in this day and age when people are well educated how they can keep a house like it. It is really digusting and I mean digusting the worst I have ever seen. And it is not just men, women do it as well. I could never let all that horrible stuff build up like that. It would get on my nerves. I would not like to be visting them.
my gran used to live like that i even mailed pics of her house to channel 4 she said she hated housework and she liked it like thati used to take my own flask and never used her loo

I have no idea, though my flat is still somewhat untidy, as I've recently moved in, and are still sorting out, and decorating.
