What could this stuff be?! Please help!?
Question:I moved into my house I'm renting last November, and the landlord had it completely repainted and everything. I think it was in about January I started noticing this black stuff on all the stuff in the house that was plastic. Some of the things it is on is the toilet, coffee maker, fridge, it also gets on things that are inside the cupboards like plastic cups and the toaster. It kind of looks like soot and it wipes off with a damp wash rag. You can also see black around the nail heads in the walls. We don't have a fire place, and we don't burn candles enough for it to be coming from that. We thought maybe it was coming from the furnace or air conditioning so we checked the air vents and they are completely white. Has this happened to anyone else?

If this is mold mix bleach and water in a spray bottle. Spray on the mold and wipe it off it won't return if it is mold.
not sure but it sounds like some kind of mold or mildew. Do you live in a humid area? Did the apartment have water damage? You could try running a dehumidifier to see if that helps.
sounds like a type of mold...not sure how to clean it except you've got to get the house completely dry...maybe running air conditioner plus lots of fans to remove humidity
try spraying Lysol its kills grems,mold and mildew
