If the table is wood. Try rubbing the spots with mayonnaise. I have also heard that buffing with cigarette ashes will do the job. I don't smoke so don't know about that. Buffing with toothpaste is also supposed to do the trick. A good furniture oil might also help keep it from coming back. Good luck.
I am not sure how it comes off when I clean/dust my antique wood dresser but whenever I have left a cup and there is a ring I go back a week later and do regular o cleaning and it comes right off with simple window spray and a paper towel and a little elbow grease. :)
