Does paint act an a cleaner - disinfectant - sanitizer?

Question:I had my entire house painted...Besides it giving it the nice clean and fresh look, does paint also act as a cleaner and disinfectant or sanitizer?

Answers:
Sorry, no. Some of the chemicals may kill some bacteria, but you wouldn't be able to consider fresh paint a sanitization.

If you are worried about mold or mildew in walls, you can use "Kilz" primer to kill the fungus before painting, but it sounds like you're concerned about something else. If you've had a flood of some kind, especially involving possible sewage, you really want to consult professionals before you consider the place safe for occupancy.
