The biggest thing is to have a routine and stick to it.. The other is when possible get the family involved..

I keep all my kids toys in wicker baskets.. They look nice and the kids (ages 1 and 3 ) help pick up and keep things tidy.. If your kids play with some toys more than others it's time to pack up some toys and donate what they don't play with and put some toys in a bin and rotate. They will love playing with old favorites when they are out of sight...

I also in the morning wipe down my bathroom with antibacterial wipes and clean the mirror/toilet/sink.. That freshens it up and I do the same at night.. I mop the bathroom 2x aweek.. I have boys (enough) said.

I also vacuum everyday usually either first thing in the morning or at night when my husband is getting the kids ready for bed..

I after every meal load/unload the dishwasher/ wipe counters and put food away..I run the dishwasher on time delay at night before bed.. So, it's running while we are asleep and it uses up water being heated at 4am.. It saves on the electric...If you have a sitter try and get her to load dishwasher/wipe counters.. Tell her you noticed ants.. OR something.. If not time to get a new sitter.

I also tend to do my laundry in the evening.. I sort and run a load and while the dryer is running I soak the next load.. This also helps the clothes get cleaner and saves on electric... By not running the washer/dryer together AND doing at night...

I dust only once a week, since I vacuum often I don't have much of a dust problem...

Good luck

I don't. I have lower standards. By the way, if you find out how to make your house cleaner, you are invited to come make MY house cleaner!

I'd ask the babysitter to clean up a little--bottles & glasses in the sink, toys in the bin, dirty clothes in the hamper.

Good luck--debbie
Hi, this is a problem I faced several years ago. I was tired of spending so much of my time cleaning, and not feeling like my home was any better for all my effort. So I decided to do something about it. After coming to this decision, I took a good look around my house and thought how can I make keeping my house cleaner, easier? And I realized I had a lot of crap! Books I already read, boxes toys and nicknack came in, little odds and ends people had given to me so I felt obliged to keep.
I decided first thing was to get rid of (donate, yardsale, EBay) everything I didn't need (and I mean need) really, really want, or had a great deal of sentimental value. I was not able to do this all at once. (We get attached to our stuff, even our crap.) It took several attempts, at first getting rid of obvious junk, and then re-evaulating and realizing I was able to get rid of even more each time I cleaned. Until my house was no longer cluttered. After getting to this point and along the way, I made it a habit to pick-up and put away as I go along through the day.
And finally after getting my home to were an hour or so a day is all it takes to keep it tidy, I made myself be selective in what I buy, or keep for my home. I ask myself "Do I Want To Clean And Dust And Move This In My House?" And if the answer is "no", I don't buy or keep it. Hope this helps, good-luck. :)

I can suggest this. Have your baby sitter use one room . not the whole house, Depending on the age of your child/children. If they have a play room /area, then stick to the one place. Your housework will be cut by half .Sure you clean very well, I do my housework this way, I try to do one room a day , I set my alarm clock to go off in 15 min´s time, I see how much I can achieve in this short time, I never take thing´s back to their rightful places until I have finished in this room. When the clock sound´s time up. I sit down and have a rest, or if I think I should carry on I do the same again. 15 min´s here and there make a great difference. I always reward myself when I finish, sit with my feet up, come to my computer , answer a few Q, watch TV. I dust every 3 days , I use little duster wipes called SPONTEX . There is something inside these little dusters that stops the dust from settling back again. It´s not easy when you have children and even harder when you have a full time job, even house keeping is a full time job. Clean once a day , try 15 min´s here and there , it works for me
After work I must clean the kitchen and the bathroom... and each day of the week I will clean something extra for example Tuesday will clean the kitchen, bath and living room. Weds will clean kitchen, bath and master bed room.. etc. Find something that works for you.. Good Luck.
