I moved into a house that has a dishwasher(used).would white vinegar be ok to run in it, befor i use it?

Answers:
This is how I clean my dishwasher every three months:
Fill the soap dispenser with Bicarb of Soda (baking soda), then fill a low container with 2 cups of white vinegar and place into the bottom of the dishwasher. Run a full cycle, on hot.
The baking soda reacts with the vinegar, causing a harmless chemical reaction which cleans the dishwasher AND the pipes. It also removes all smells. Vinegar alone will not do this.
The reason you put the vinegar into a low container is that most dishwashers start with draining remaining water, so any vinegar placed into the bottom would drain immediately. The vinegar will act as a disinfectant first, then, as the bicarb is released, the reaction will occur which cleans all the parts.
Your dishwasher will smell fresh and be sparkling clean, for next to nothing.
Might as well not. What would the vinegar do? Put in a detergent run it on the hottest setting! Or go out and buy the Clorox everything disinfectant. Its in a blue plastic spray bottle.
I don't know but i doubt it.
Why not buy a dishwasher cleaner, Finish make a good one.
I use it all the time.
yes we clean our coffee pot with it some and just run the Rinse cycle after a few time
That would work or try lemonade flavored Kool-Aid(the packets). And they also sell dishwasher cleaner at the store.
I have never heard of running vinegar in a dishwasher but I think it might be a good idea. It would help remove any built up lime or scale. I think its a good idea. I would put like one 1/2 gallon in the dishwasher and turn on the wash cycle. It wont hurt anything.
White vinegar is excellent at cleaning dishwashers as it removes limescale. It is cheaper than any descaling product you can find and is environmentally friendly.
I put an empty cycle on about once a month. I also put some in my washing machine every cycle as you use about half the amount of washing powder, instead of fabric softner...and no you cannot smell it when you take the clothes out.
Sure you can but there also is a product sold now just for cleaning dishwashers. It's in your local supermarket.
Yes this is very good to clean your dishwasher, just Wash out your dishwasher
To keep your dishwasher operating at peak performance and remove built-up soap film, pour 1 cup undiluted white vinegar into the bottom of the unit -- or in a bowl on the top rack. Then run the machine through a full cycle without any dishes or detergent. Do this once a month, especially if you have hard water. Note: If there's no mention of vinegar in your dishwasher owner's manual, check with the manufacturer first.
Good Luck !
I read an article that suggested to use "Country Time" lemonade powder. Fill the soap dispenser with the powder, & run at the hottest temperture. This will remove rust type stains.
I have used white vinegar in the past to run through my washing machine to get rid of a horrible smell that was in there... it didn't work, but it didn't do it any harm!
It won't hurt it, vinegar is a cleaner. I have run a cup of bleach in mine to clean it, without dishes, and then wiped it out. If there are rusty stains, use Iron-Out, according to directions, and then run empty to fully rinse it. (You can use vinegar instead of rinse agent in the dishwasher as well, I learned this from my Maytag dishwasher booklet!)
Yes Yes White Vinegar is good for that and a few other thing like coffee pot's, shampooing your carpets to get rid of pet Oder, garbage disposal.
Finish do a really good dishwasher cleaner that you just pop in the cutlery basket and run on a 65 degree cycle. I also bought a finish de-odouriser. The machine smells lovely and lemony every time I open it now!
