How do I clean a vase with a long thin 'neck' and an open bulb-like base?
Question:How do I properly clean a vase with a long thin 'neck' and an open bulb-like base? I love this vase but it sits on my sink for weeks after I use it each time because I'm not sure how to clean it properly.
I also have another vase that is so long it doesn't fit into my sink very well and I need some handy hints to keep them sparkling.
(They don't fit in the dishwasher). Thanks in advance for your help.

A baby bottle brush will work great & get the sides thoroughly. I like to keep one around just for that reason... I hope that helps you out! :)
Put raw rice in it, a little water, and shake.

Acetone (fingernail polish remover) is what we used in my chemistry lab to clean glass. It did a really good job. You just pour a little acetone in and swish it around. We used bottle brushes to help scrub if needed. You can get them in the baby department at the grocery store. No need to rinse the glass after pouring out the acetone unless you just want to.

maybe you could clean the neck with a fuzzy pipe cleaner? or a skinny feather duster? then rinse with water
I use warm water, a mild detergent with lemon juice, and about 1/4 cup of rice. Put it all in at once and vigorously shake and swirl until cleaned. This might take a few tries, but it will clean and not scratch the glass. Soak the inside with warm water and detergent for several minutes if the dirt is dried inside.
Get some of those tablets that are used for dentures, put one or two into the vase, and then fill with water. An alternative, I prefer is to some baking soda into the vase (amount depends upon the size), pour in some vinegar, and let it foam. Pour in some hot water and swish around. If the vase is large enough, you can also put in some ice cubes and shake IF the vase is not delicate. Rinse thoroughly. That should make the vase clean as well as eliminate the odor. Always change water in a vase every day or two to keep bacteria from building up.
put a polidendent tablet in the vase and add fill halfway with water, let it set overnight and rinse, the tablet dissolves and acts like a cleaning agent

Buy a baby bottle brush, clean with Dawn dish soap & see if that works on your vases.As for the vase that doesn't fit into your sink, put it in your bathtub, fill it with some Dawn dish soap & hot water & let it set for a day. Then rinse it well & it should be sparkling after rinsing it with hot water.
You can use a baby bottle brush cleaner to get down in the vase,also you can get a wire clothes hanger, wrap a cloth around the end .
the rice is a good idea as is the baby bottle brush but the easiest thing to do is use warm water and denture cleaner tablets, so much easier and faster. :-)
