Why is my dryer not drying my clothes?
Question:its not the lint screen or the therm. the heater is heating as it shoud but the clothes take like 2hours to dry? why
Answers:
Are you sure that your washer is wringing them out completely? Sometimes my washer will get out of balance without us realizing it and the clothes don't get wrung out well enough. How soaked are they when you take them out of the washer? They shouldn't have ANY water that you can squeeze out with your hands. Also, how old is your dryer? Just might be worn out. The heating element might be no good anymore. Just some thoughts.
It might be the heating element going bad. Your not getting your full heat to dry.
Have you cleaned your lint trap with soap and water? Dryer sheets and fabric softener build up on the lint trap and it makes the dryer work harder too.
Clean out the dryer vent. Lint can accumulate anywhere along the vent and stop the moister from getting out of the machine. Disassemble it from the back and work all the way to the exhaust of the vent. That should fix the problem.
check and make sure vent hose is clear.
Possibly too many clothes in dryer. I had an issue with my dryer not drying and found out it blew a fuse. Even though the dryer was still coming on. It also could be your heating element going bad. It could still be heating up but just not to full heat.
Make sure you are not overloading the dryer. Is it making any noise or noisier than usuall? When this happens to me it is either the belt slipping or the thing that makes the hot air blow into the dryer is not working correctly.
There could be a # of things why 1st check the breaker box it has a double pole breaker-make sure both breaker switches are on-2nd check the lint filter &the hose that comes from the bottom for clogs of lent-3rd it could be the heating element which you may have to consult w/ a tech.
the heating element might be going bad.
However, when I had a drying time issue I thought I didn't had a lint problem and that was the problem.
Hey Lizabopeep,
my dryer needs the same time. The reason is, you can't rise the temperature to the nowhere. What will your nylons do if you heat them to 200 °C? No, your dryer works quite normal.

Well the only things I can think of is; is the drum turning? Last but would be my guess is the exhaust vent. Is the tube clean and the outside vent clear of obstructions? Good luck
Check the dryer vent to see if it's clogged, also check the hose going to the dryer vent and see if maybe there is a kink behind the dryer or maybe the hose is full of lint.
Also, it is not enough for you lint screen to be free of lint. Take it out and run it under warm water, does the water run right THROUGH or does it just run DOWN OVER the screen. If you use a lot of fabric softener sheets, they build up a film on your lint screen that you really cannot see until you run water on it! If the water is running down the screen and not through it, get a nail brush and some HOT soapy water and scrub your lint filter until the water runs RIGHT THROUGH it. (ALL OF IT) If the hose is fine as well as the lint screen and the clothes are getting hot, maybe the blower is out. Hope this helps.
sounds like a heating element
It's hot if you open the door while running right? Then there's no problem with elements or breakers. You didn't even say its electric, if its gas, these things have nothing to do with it anyway.
Everyone who reads this; go now and pull the lint screen, remove any lint like you normally would and run the screen under some water. I bet water pools up in it. Now scrub a little with a soft brush, run under water again and see the water go right through. Amazing, this is what dryer sheets do. They gradually film over and slowly decrease air flow increasing drying time, and if it gets bad enough, can cause a fire. You should clean the screen at least every six months.
You can also stick a vacuum hose down in there to suck out lint. Also vacuum out the vent hose. This can also block air flow and catch fire (just happened to us).
We had this problem when I was living at my parents house. Turned out the vent that leads from the dryer to outside the house was clogged with lint. Once we cleaned it out, the dryer miraculously started working A-okay again.
I had the same thing happen to me. It turned out to be the heating element. It was cheaper to just get a new dryer.
I had a bird nest in my vent. When we went to unhook it for a new dryer there was the nest.
The same thing happened to me, my dryer vent needed to be cleaned and vacuumed out. Happened to me one other time-there was a squirrel in the outside vent blocking the air. I would start with your vent.
Could be the lint trap
Could be lint built up . try cleaning out the lint hose.
