How can i get rid of the pee odour from my mattress?
Question:My child had bed wetting accident,i clean & dry the mattress but it's still smell bad & making the whole room stinks. Does anybody have any solution for it.
Answers:
my kids are the same!
scrub both sides of the mattress with hot soapy water with bleach and a scrubbing brush then prop the mattress up against a wall and leave the window open, when the mattress is almost dry spray both sides with softener and water mixed together (this is how they make febreze).
When the mattress drys there shouldn't be any more smell.
BUY A WATERPROOF SHEET FOR THE MATTRESS WHEN YOUR FINISHED terry towelling waterproof sheets are the best.
Try diluted white vinegar in water.
Bleach,salt,anything you can find.
Nah. I'd actually suggest getting new mattress... and covering it with a waterproof sheet. More hygenic that way anyway. Theyre not really expensive
get a new one, for goodness sake, do you want your child sleeping on filth, from now on get a plastic sheet for the new mattress.
try a good upholstery cleaner and clean it in the morning and let the mattress breath all day and then put the sheets back on.That should take care of the smell.
get a new mattress and some protective sheeting to save the new mattress getting damaged.
or try Vanish Carpet & upholstery cleaner or febreeze
buy a new mattress
baking soda and water
Fabreeze works well.
clorox
Swap it with someone elses?
throw it out!!!!!!
My child had the same problem, I did have to buy a new matress eventually, and also made sure I bought a plastic sheet, but I found that a can of dettol spray was really effective, I took the matress outside and used the whole can to give it a thorough soaking and left to dry outside, It worked wonders as a quick fix.
The smell is bacteria so you really do need something antibacterial
leave it outside propbbly in the sun for a day
When liquid gets on a mattress, it soaks literally all the way through. It needs to be replaced. You can buy a relatively inexpensive waterproof mattress cover for $7 at Wal-Mart. If you want comfort along with the waterproofing get the one that is $27. It is well worth it. I have one for all four of my kids beds.
I should try some foam carpet/upholstry cleaner on it.
if you cant afford a new mattress try bicarbonate of soda, make sure the mattress is completely dry first then apply loads of bicarb, it isnt expensive, leave for a good couple of hours then hoover off with small attachment, you may need to do this again but i have been told that it works, good luck
