Me and myboyfriend are moving in together the place where he currently lives has roaches?

Question:We are moving into a brand new house and I want to make sure we DONT bring any of those discusting things with us.
How can I make sure?

Answers:
If you're moving into a brand new house, I highly recommend that you get bug service. If you live in the south, you'll need to have a termite bond. That's a whole other story.

Prevention is best, once you see a roach, that means they are a whole lot of them hidden in your walls.

To really kill all the roaches you see and don't see, you need to have a bug service that will use different methods to kill them. Too much bait will kill some and send the others to another part of the house. A good bug service will take off the electrical plates in the kitchen and bath and laundry room and put a dust bait in the walls. Then they will go around the perimeter of the house and spray. That's the first time. It takes about an hour or more. Then every three months they will come out and spray again. Make sure you're home when they come, or else they may not spray, and just say they did. Once you do the initial treatment, they should only have to do the outside from then on unless you have a problem come up and then they will go inside. The first time they come out it may run about $150, but then you make a monthly payment of about $30, it can really vary.

good luck.

I'm afraid the only way to make sure you don't bring any with you, is too not bring anything from the old house into the new. Sorry, but those things hide everywhere, and are impossible to kill. The only thing you could do that may help if the above is not an option. Is to bomb the place everyday for the week before you move.. that will kill alot of them. And then maybe have an exterminator come into the new house and exterminate within the first week, in hopes that will get rid of the creepy things. there are also some good products you can buy at Lowes and other store that you spray just around the perimeter of your house, they are supposed to work good. Good luck, I don't envy you. :-)
Use a bug fogger's in your old house before you move.

That should kill most of the roachs in your old house.

And in your furniture before you move.

Also, open ever box, take everything out, before you move,

Try and find the roachs before the move, then you won't bring em with ya.
OK its going to take a little work but shake an or inspect each item u pack cloths are relay important after u place then in a closed truck like a u hall set of a couple of bug bombs in the truck on the way to your house stop at a home supply or Wall-mart store an get a container of boreick acid aka roach proof sprinkle it behind every cabinet an appliance in each closet as close to base board as possible Now go unload truck unpacking boxes outside If you happen to bring any with u they will not last
Short of not packing and buying all new stuff...don't bring any boxes or paper bags into the new house, unpack outside to make sure...wash everything in hot water. Roaches like to nest in boxes and lay eggs in them, so if you bring the boxes into the new house...roaches in the new house. Good Luck. I'd cut your losses on what you can, and just be very careful with what you can't dispose of.
You are also gonna have to check out alot of your electronics as well...they like to hide in them too. They are most likely going to be hiding in alot of your furniture too...so short of tossing the stuff you have now and getting new...use that boric acid powder BEFORE you move in your couch and chairs inside the crevices. In fact if you aren't moving for a week or so..start putting that boric acid all around the old place to help kill off any possible hitchhikers.
If you aren't really attached to his furniture...perhaps getting rid of the couch and any arm chairs would be best and get some others from someplace you know is roach free.
Good luck.
Bomb his place before he moves then bomb your new place after your "COMPLETELY" moved in!
i have never had to deal with that problem but i feel for you! good luck!
The best thing to do is first bomb his current apartment several times this week. Wait to pack boxes at the last minute. (I know it'll be a pain but no matter how well you seal the boxes they can still get in). Anything that you can shake shake before putting them in the box. and as soon as the box is full take it out of the house. If you have the truck for long enough bombing the packed truck would help too. When you get to your new house open as many boxes as possible in the garage (or backyard). Again try to shake out what you can. Like somebody above mentioned they can get into EVERYTHING and you'll still have a few survivors but the key idea is to have as few as possible. Once you're moved in I'd recommend having an exterminator come at least once also.
Some good advice here. I would only add that you should pay special special attention the the television. Roaches love the environment inside those!
Bug bomb his place BEFORE he moves anything to the new place, and also wash EVERYTHING of his. Then after he has moved everything into the new house, bug bomb the new house with everything in it. And pray alot.
After you've completely moved into your new place, put boric acid (powder) behind all your appliances and at all the baseboards and the windowsills, everywhere you can possibly put it. Boric acid is the best and safest roach killer you can buy without harmful side effects. To keep the nasty little buggers out of your kitchen drawers, put in a bay leaf. They typically don't care for these.

And just as a little side bar, if you ever notice you have an ant problem, where ever you notice ants coming in, draw a chalk line. For some strange reason ants will not cross a chalk line.
I have no idea why, but they won't, go figure.

Good luck, and best wishes in your new home.
call an exterminator and set an appointment then rent a uhaul and pack ur things in it loosly and have him bomb after a spray of your things in the truck and close it overnight this will prevent any other roaches from coming in as those there already are dying
I'm sorry darling, there is just absolutely no way to make sure of this. Instead you can make sure you use some of those 'ant poison' that you can find in any hardware store (like Elliot's hardware or so) and put little bunches under your cabinets (in your new home of course).
I have to advise you that when you open the container (powder) it smells pretty bad, but once you put it inside the cabinets, there is no more smell. AND THEY REALLY WORK!
