Help! I just spilled some oil on my light colored cotton pants 5 min ago. How do I get it out?

Dawn dish soap is a degreaser. It is used to clean animals after oil spills. Works great.
Paint thiner, mineral spirits, should dissolve it, then wash in hot.

Is this some sort of food oil, or motor oil? I've never had to treat motor oil, but if I get food grease on my clothing (i.e. while cooking or frying), the best thing I've used is a bar of Fels Naptha soap (in the laundry aisle at the store - it is in a white paper wrapper). Get the area around the spot wet, get the bar of soap wet, and rub the soap on the spot. I have had very dark fabric lighten with Fels Naptha, but I've had great success - even after washing a drying an unnoticed stain, I was able to treat with the Fels Naphtha again and remove the stain.

Sprinkle talcum powder liberally over the stain. Rub it in. Wait a couple of hours then wash as usual.
I've used dishwashing liquid ( cuts grease) to get clear oil and black grease stains out of fabric with success. Just rub the liquid into the spot, then launder. Check before you put it in the dryer. Dryer will set the stain.
