Dyson vs. Oreck?

Question:We are going to spend money on a vaccum cleaner that actually works! So, which is better a Dyson or an Oreck? I know that models vary, but if you compared similar prices of each which is better?

Answers:
I bought a Dyson about 6 months ago, and really like it. I have 2 St. Bernard's and nothing gets the dog hair like the Dyson , specifically the one for animals.
One note of caution- it will find every loop of a Berber that is pulled and really pull it- like all the way. I had to trim some loop pulls before vacuuming. It also pulled at the point where the two pieces were fused together. It found one loop at the junction and pulled it for about 3 feet before I could stop the vacuum. My berber carpet is fairly old , and like I said I have two Saint Bernard, so it had hard use prior to the Dyson purchase.

I have had both and hands down Dyson wins. You don't have expensive bags to buy anymore, it picks up better, it's line does not get clogged, and emptying the container is way less hassell. Dyson.
Oreck is just as good as Dyson. Dyson products are way too overpriced.
Honestly, I've had both.they're both pretty good.but I just bought a Eureka Boss SmartVac. It cost $150 and does use bags. Its the best vacuum I've ever found for pet hair. Oreck is still a nice vacuum, but after a couple years of use it quit picking up the pet hair like it used to! I do love using it on my bare floors though...the brush is really gentle on it.

Dyson does work well, but its completely overpriced. Don't pay for the fancy names.

What are your needs for a vacuum? Do you have low-pile carpet, hard floors or pets?
Forget them. Look for Numatic
neither, buy a rainbow, you're never need a vacuum, or bags, or hepas again.

those things work, you wont believe how much dirt your vacuum doesn't pick up and what it blows back in the air..eww..

research it..
Neither. I bought a Bissell Velocity and I love it! It sucks all the cat hair and lint off the ground. The only disadvantage about it is that the dust kind of flies when you empty the canister. Also, Bissell Healthy Home is another popular (an expensive) vacuum that has a nice canister (the stuff drops down so you don't have dust flying) and sucks up well.

Read the reviews on both vacuums and the Dyson on the Target website from people who have used them! Might help.
Neither, I have a Hoover Savvy which is about 1/2 the cost of a Dyson/Oreck. It has furniture attachment and it's bagless.. If you do buy one get the extended warranty.. I've gotten mine clean/checked and fixed and it hasn't cost me anything but the cost of a filter I replace every 2 yrs. Previously, I had broken every vacuum I owned- I love this vacuum... I have 2 children ages 1 and 3 and a shedding dog and messy husband.. Also, have you thought about maybe getting your old vacuum serviced it could just need some maintance..
