Can u wash feather/down pillows in washing machine and dryer?

Question:

Answers:
Yes . . . If it is front loader. Top loaders can become easily unbalanced or even damaged. I wash mine ALL the time at home including my King sized comforter, but I have a front loading washing machine.

If you have a top loading, it is better to take it to a laundromat, put the machine through an empty wash first with bleach (at least I would), and then wash your items. You will most likely pay under $20 versus the cleaners which is more expensive and (depending on the chemicals used) may lessen the lifespan of your items.

Good luck!!

Look for care instructions. If you can, put tennis balls in the dryer to fluff.
My BF who is an appliance tech says he would only put them in a front loading washer, but let them air dry...
Yes.
You had better have a very large washer and drier. But the answer is yes, use a very mild detergent as you don't want to eliminate the natural oils on the down or feathers.
To dry, just use a very low heat setting, or just air dry in dryer.
There should be labels on these products with that information.
Might be a good idea to take them to a laundromat, that has large commercial washers and dryers.
I wash down bags / blankets in my front loader all the time. I use woolite and tennis balls are good, you need something in the dryer to beat the loft back into down. I use a rubber ball the size of a baseball. Dog toy. and I use low heat. It takes about three cycles to get them dry
I don't know about pillows, but I know about down parkas and sleeping bags. Unless there's something special about the fabric, it shouldn't be a problem. If you have more than one or two sleeping pillows to wash, use a front loader. Use cold water (maybe warm is ok), and use a powdered soap like Ivory. You can tumble dry on low, but put something like a tennis ball or two in the dryer to help break up the clumps of wet feathers/down as the pillows dry.
I have that too and i asked a menonite this question. She said to put in on weak cycle in washer and use pine sol. Do not put it in the dryer but let it lie flat. I have not tried this but it was the answer when i asked.
