Which takes up more water: dishwasher or washing by hand?

Question:

Answers:
Handwashing by far.

I guess it would depend on how many dishes you wash and the method you use to wash them. If you fill a basin and wash the dishes and then rinse them it would seem like less water would be used... However, if you just run the water and wash dishes it could be more... I like the dishwasher, I only run mine on a full cycle. I have a family of 4 so that's about every other day... .I believe that it uses less water than washing by hand.
Thanks to a scientific study at the University of Bonn in Germany, you can have your cake and eat it too-relaxed in the knowledge that the cleaning up with your trusted machine will be a piece of cake and the eco-friendly thing to do.

The Bonn study proves that the dishwasher uses only half the energy and one-sixth of the water, less soap too.
The dishwasher, by far!!
i read somewhere that a dishwasher uses 40% less water...
Study after study, handwashing takes MUCH more water!
