Answers:
stiff brush and hot soapy water

all you need is a big bottle of bleach a mop bucket and a long handled brush and just scrub away, works a treat.
patio cleaner from your d.i.y shop, you will have to use a watering can then in your case and a good stiff brush? cant you borrow a pressure washer off anybody? i bought one from Morrison's supermarket for £25.00
goto a store like Home Depot or Lowes and buy a product called TSP. A hose woujld be optimal but take a spray bottle and use it to clean w/ the TSP. (You have to mixe the TSP according to directions first)

Good luck
the cheapest way to do it is to hire a pressure washer ..but you will need a tap connection ..you could use flash and a wire brush with a bucket of hot water ..but it is hard work
the best way is buy a hose and pressure washer... its a breeze... all the other solutions seem like a lot of work...
The best thing to use is Ajax. (or Comet).
Just sprinkle it on.
Put Ajax on the slabs after a rain storm. (why waste the water).

Ajax will also give immediate traction because it has grit.

I used Ajax on my patio, just to get traction for my feet, and the mold came off without effort.
If you do not mind using elbow grease this is cheapest way.
Good stiff brush apply salt drop of water and start brushing hard, rinse off with water
Thick household bleach and a hard brush
Get yourself a pressure washer!

The pressure washer gives out a very fine but powerful jet of water, that really lifts away the mildew. Its like a breath of fresh air and really makes your slabs look good as new.

Ordinary soapy liquid, water and sponge wont lift of the stains that are ingrained in your slabs.

My advice is to get a pressure washer!
A few bottles of domestos squirt it on and brush into the area leave if a three of four hours and then rinse off.
Get a bag of Sharp Sand ( as against Soft Sand) water, Sharp Sand, Stiff Broom. very environmentally friendly...no bleach etc... does for keeping fit as wel!!
get your self a pressure washer,a good investment.
a deck scrubber brush and hot soapy water.
bleach and a garden brush hard work but works ,,,,,,
