When there is static in silk or chiffon and it is sticking to you, how can you remove it?
Question:I have a silk dress and there is static which makes it cling onto me, is there something I can iron it with or wash it in that would remove that static?
Answers:
First of all you have my sympathy, there's nothing worse than any garment clinging to you.
You could try gently rubbing a tumble dryer sheet on to the reverse side of your dress. And never ever dry the dress in a tumble dryer, this causes static to certain fabrics.
Good luck
Rub a dryer sheet on the material.
there is a spray you can buy, i have only seen it in a Kleeneze book so i know its out there. maybe a dry cleaners would stock it.
This is an old trick my mom use to use.Take a dryer sheet(Downy or Snuggle,or whatever dryer sheet you may have),and rub the inside of the garment in the offending areas. Also you may want to try one of the products they sell that you spray on just for this purpose
put some body lotion on (but not too much else it will bleed through the fabric)
hi there
use a small amount of fabric softner when washing, that should help.
make sure you use fabric conditioner when you wash it
I JUST USE A CLING FREE SHEET, JUST RUB IT , INSIDE OF YOUR DRESS AN ON YOUR BODY YOULL HAVE TO DO THIS FOR A FEW FOR IT TO WORK PLUS YOUR DRESS WILL SMELL NICE...
OR JUST USE A SMALL DAB OF HAND CREAM ON YOUR BODY WILL WORK TOO VERY GENTLY YOU RUB IN ON YOUR DRESS WITH OUT STAINING YOUR DRESS.
Dryer sheet rubbed on the inside or put hand lotion on your slip. (If you don't wear a slip, put the lotion on your legs.) I learned this working at a Chinese restaurant when I was a teenager.
I think 'Static Cling' is the product you can use. Read the can to make sure it is safe for all materials.
Just rinse it through with some fabric softener in the water.
