I'll try anything!?
Question:back a few years ago when my daughter was three I got her a brand new $2000. bed. Well right after I bought it for her she wrote on the head board with black permanent marker. How can I get the permanent marker out?
Answers:
Can it be painted or re-stained? If so, I suggest using primer before you paint or sand it before you stain. Otherwise maybe try Magic Eraser. Permanent Markers are hard to get out!
Try repainting it.
Nail polish remover.
Try Goo Be Gone or a Mr Clean Magic eraser. Both work very good.
You can try the Magic Eraser by Mr Clean, it works well, but ive never used it on permanent marker.
Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean...you can find it in the cleaning section at the grocery store.
Have you tried fingernail polish remover? If that doesn't work a product at the local hardware store will. It's called OOPS!
You can try to paint over it . Some Manufactures give a warranty, check to see if one was given here and have someone come out and clean it .
It may also less expensive to get something second hand. toddlers can be unpredictable
Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Erasers? They work wonders
Also, at the local dollar store they sell Awesome, it's yellow in a clear bottle with red writing... the name speaks for itself! Gum, marker, clothes stain... it's amazing and only $1... you can't beat it!
i would try a mr.clean eraser,i know it gets markers off the floor
nail polish remover might take the finish off. have you tried the magic erasers? or try emailing the company who makes they markers and or the company who made the bed and see if they have any ideas? and if all else fails you can repaint it.. or sand it down and redo the same stain and then it would look like new.
Unless you want to strip, sand and refinish the head board, you're out of luck.. Thats why you don't buy three year olds $2000 beds. Buy a pretty bed set with lots of fluffy matching pillows and pillow shams. Then pile those to cover up the stain.
I wouldn't use all these heavy cleaners every one's suggesting. They'll strip your finish.
there is a product called Greased Lighting it takes anything out blood, wine, grass, soap scum, great for laundry, pet accidents carpet stains.
Try this in a small area, use a marker to write on the same area that is affected and while the mark is still wet, sponge it off. The same chemical that keeps the marker fluid in a liquid state will reliquify it most of the time. This also works on the 'magic' eraseable markers and boards that nothing seems to get all the colors off of, but you must sponge it while it is still liquid. Speed is of the essence. Lots of luck ;)
It really depends on what type of surface you are talking about
I assume by the price you paid, it's wood. You are probably better off sanding it down and re-painting or re-staining. If you do try "fingernail polish remover" make sure it's the type that contains acetone (or you can purchase pure acetone from a beauty supply store). WHATEVER you try, make sure "test" it in an area that won't be noticeable if things don't work out.
You may also try calling Sharpie's customer service number for advice: 1-800-323-0749.
Good luck!
Rubbing alcohol is what permanent markers are based off of. Use Rubbing alcohol (enough of it) and it will take the ink out. After you do that, the finish, probably will be gone. Best case just go over it with a finish to give it that funiture glossy look (i recommened car wax) or, sand it down if required, then stain it the same color, i recommend with old english because you can do it in steps, and then wax it. Wax isn't perminent, but it blends well, plus, it gets into the pores of the wood and prevents further deterioration.
I know it sounds dumb but use hair spray on it and see if that works I know it comes out of clothing.
Rubbing Alcohol.
Mr. clean eraser will probably do the job.
Methylated spirit removes ink and grass stains
well try W-D40 it removes tons of stains and is good for many things even joint pain!
