What is the best way to clean dishwashers--inside?
Question:I've used the bottle cleaners, which you place upside down inside the rack, but that doesn't do much. when I open the door, there is residue and particles scattered on the door. Please help. My dishwasher is 8 years old.
Answers:
Vinegar and baking soda. The instructions that came with mine say to fill the soap dispenser up with baking soda, add a cup of vinegar in the bottom and run the longest and hottest cycle. Now I also have to remove a couple of screws on the bottom to get the filter off and usually find some pretty groodie food particles down there which I wipe away with either clorox or lysol disinfecting wipes or a paper towel soaked with vinegar.
I wash mine without the little bottle detergent, I just put it on a heavy wash program , put a normal tablet in and it ´s nice and clean.
When we bought our dishwasher, the owner of our appliance store swore by Tang.
He says to fill the detergent dispenser with Tang (whatever flavor you have on hand) once a month and run it on normal cycle and you'll never have to clean your dishwasher.
It works for us.
