So, this is kind of gross, but I need to know how to get vomit out of my carpet...?
Question:Last night my boyfriend and I had a few friends over and one of them found the vodka after he'd been drinking lots and lots of beer. You know the rest. How do I get this stuff out of my carpet? It's been sitting in the carpet for over 8 hours because my boyfriend has a weak stomach so he wasn't able to clean it up and the mess had to wait until *I* got off work. The only cleaning products I have are 409 and Windex. Will that work or is there some other trick I should know?
I know this is totally gross and I'm very sorry for those of you with weak stomachs, but I've never cleaned vomit out of a carpet before.
Thanks for your help, and again I apologize.

there is some stuff called Greased Lightning. You can buy at Home Depot. It takes out just about anything, even blood and oil out of fabrics.
get 2 dust pans and scrape as much as you can into the dust pan, toss it away, then get a carpet cleaner, like a rug doctor because thats the only thing that will get the smell out.
Use SHOUT carpet cleaner. Not the spray, but the granule kind. You can buy it at Walmart. It comes with a bristled brush. This works on anything. I had tough grape juice stains that had been there a while and it came up.
All you do is apply it and use the brush to go over it (Scrub the carpet well with it so it gets inside the carpet real deep) and let it sit for a minimum of 30 minutes (I recommend at least an hour or two since you have vomit which can be a tough stain and then just vacuum it up.) That's it! It cleans well and smells good. One of these bottles does a 10x10 carpet, but if you are just spot cleaning, than put it on the vomit alone and you will have it for a while.
Good luck!

Don´t worry about us , we are not cleaning it up. Once you have most of the mess taken off the carpet, Sponge with warm water and a small amount of liquid soup, even hair shampoo is good for this. Sponge inwards of the stain, like this you won´t be spreading the stain further,Then with a little detox or anything similar rub into the carpet, just a little. You might not need to do this.If you use any of my suggestions see if the carpet still smells . If not, then sponge with cold water to make sure all the suds are out. Now lay a towel with a heavy object on top, this will help soak up any remaining water from the underside of the carpet. Leave like this over night & allow to dry with natural air. You might find this area of carpet will need to be steam cleaned at a later date , as sooner or later the water mark always reaches the surface
