How to shrink a 90% cotton 10% polyester shirt?

Question:I have a shirt that is way too big for me and I want to shrink it as much as possible. What are ways to get the maximum shrinkage possible? It is 90% cotton and 10% polyester. I understand machine washing it in hot water and machine drying it will shrink but how much would it really shrink if I did this? Thanks!

Answers:
Turn up your water heater so water temp is about 110 degrees, then wash in hot water. (don't forget to turn it back down after wards) it will shrink about 1 size usually. If you need it smaller you should take it to a tailor, and have it taken in.

Cotten shrinks due to the lumen of the cotton fiber. Get the material wet and let it air dry. Do not worry about drying it quickly, the longer it takes to dry, the more it will shrink.
Wash it in very hot water then dry it on high heat.
