Cups are gritty after coming out of dishwasher.?
Question:First off, brand new dishwasher, never has one before (I know, i was living in the 20's), anyhow, cups are coming out with a gritty feel on them, i have rinse aid filled up and using proper amount of detergent, any ideas what to do to make them come out smooth?

Water not hot enough, did you adjust before installation?
Use a liquid detergent instead
Sounds like the problem is with the quality of water in your area. Unfortunately the only thing I think of is installing a water softener in your home.
Maybe less detergent or liquid detergent.
Oh I have the same problem. I don't know why this is. But just make sure that you rinse your dishes carefully before putting them in the dishwasher. I don't know what the problem is though.
Let me know if you find a solution.
It's the type of dish cleaner you are using...I went through dozens before I found one that would actually get them clean without all that white gritty mess. Seriously, I've tried them all and the only one I have found to work half decent is Cascade Complete (with the silver top) Don't get the ones with bleach or the other kinds of Cascade..they are just as gritty. The Cascade Complete is a blue "gel"...not a powder and I don't have to use a rinse agent with it, but you can if you want them even shiner.
Don't use regular liquid soap, you will have a bubble bath filling up your whole kitchen, seriously! The water agitates so strong that it will overflow out of your dishwasher.
are you using a dry detergent or a liquid is better
Since the dishwasher is brand new it should still be under warantee, so have the dishwasher replaced or repaired from the manufacture. This should not happen, you can also ask them what to do, do try using liqouid dish washing soap. We have had a dishwasher for over 25 years and it works great. It could be a defect in the model. Best Wishes!
Prewash/rinse dishes, use liquid detergent, and make sure the water is hot. I have a portable dishwasher (the kind that hooks to the sink) and it doesn't clean as well as the installed under the counter type. I have to prewash and I use rinse aid as well. My dishes come out clean except they sometimes have a little soap residue. This would go away if I were using better soap.
