Cat piss on shoes?
Question:My cat pissed on one of my running shoes, I know that putting running shoes in the washer is bad, so what can i do to clean and get rid of the smelly cat smell.
Answers:
With cat urine you NEED to break down the urine crystals with an enzyme product to remove the odor. Nature's Miracle has a Cat formula that works great. You will need to saturate the area "pissed on" completely and thoroughly and then allow to dry naturally. No rushing if you want it done completely and done right!
compost the cat plant a tree on top and buy new running shoes
it is obviously a male and wants everybody to know that you and your shoes belong to him
I would not want to be owned by a cat.
Try a product that cleans and deodorizes pet stains. Many pet stores carry them; I found several options in cat toy and hygiene aisle in my local PetsMart.
I recently used Stink Free! Instantly on a cushion that a cat peed on and it worked. I did have to apply it twice since I didn't treat it until a few weeks after the incident.
wash them with warm soapy water and dry them overnight. You can use a low temp. programme in your washer, Keep your trainers in a shoe box or go bury the cat!
I would rinse the shoe with cool water and then put it in a sink of warm water and dissolved laundry detergent. After a brief soak I would swish it around in the water, thoroughly rinse it and then hang it up to dry. If any odor remained, a product such as Febreeze could be used.
In my washing machine's manual, it says it is okay to wash sneakers provided they are put in by themselves
I have always washed everyone's running shoes in my machine without a problem, the washer is fine and so are the shoes. In fact, I couldn't imagine not washing them!!
With cat urine however, you need to soak them overnight in warm water (to break down the protein) with a good dose of laundry detergent containing enzymes. Do NOT use bleach, it will intensify the smell. Powders such as OMO or BIO ZET are great. THen, wash on warm cycle with 1 cup of bicarb soda added to normal powder, then 1 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle. This will remove the smell and sanitise your shoes. They will come out just fine, and look like new.
I use Out! it's just like nature's miracle, but much cheaper. Soak you shoe in it and allow it to air dry.
You have to kill the enzymes left by the urine to get rid of the smell.
I had the same problem with my cat and my sneakers. There is nothing you can do except throw the shoes away - and the quicker the better. Then, either get rid of the cat or put your shoes somewhere inaccessible to the little devil.
