Cleaning Old Copper Stove Top Boiler?

Question:I have a one hundred year old solid copper boiler which sat atop a stove it's about three feet round and two feet high with a couple of brass taps and a lid. I would like to know the best way of cleaning it up so it looks shiny. It's very tarnished at the moment.

Answers:
hello, I can suggest this, To remove a green deposit on copper, called Verdigris, with a paste made up of whiting and methylated spirit, polish with a mildly abrasive metal polish, this should clean all the stains, For the brass, use a solution of 1 heaped tablespoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of vinegar to a pint of water

slather tons of brown sauce on it-yes, brown sauce! leave for a couple of hours or overnight, then wash off with warm soapy water-needs a bit of a rub, but don't use scrubby things as they'll scratch. you won't believe how bright and shiny it turns out.
Check with an antique dealer BEFORE you do ANYTHING? If it has value, you lost it by cleaning. Patina means money!

the best way is to use a lemon, put salt on the lemon and rub it on the copper it will look brand new. its a proven fact
