What is the best way to clean a coffee maker?

I always use equal parts vinegar and water and run it through my coffeemaker, and we have really hard water here, lots of limescale buildup. You can run the mixture through the coffee maker two or three times, using a plain filter in your basket to catch the big stuff, then run clean plain water through on the third or fourth time, and that should do the job for you.
fill your water compartment adding 1/4cup white vinegar...run that thru twice... then run at least two pots of just water...clean with a rag/sponge run water one more time...time consuming but it works
dissassemble and clean using same cleaning solution that you would anything else. I like bleach, but you may choose something else. keep cord out of water and careful.i broke the sneak a cup on mine???Those brushes with the foam on the end and then spikes like for bottles work well for getting inside.
Run straight vinegar thru your coffeemaker. just as tho you were making a pot of coffee except leave out the coffee part...fill the water reservoir with vinegar instead of water. run the cycle as if you were making coffee...then, dump it all out and run another cycle of plain water. then...take your toothbrush and rag and wipe everything clean!
If you have an automatic drip coffee maker, 1 cup white vinegar and 9 cups water makes a good solution. Rinse 1 time. Do not listen to the idiots using bleach. It will leave an after taste.
If you have a percolator, use the powdered urn cleaner available at your grocery store.
I use the vinegar solution to clean the actual water reservoir and the basket but to clean my pot I use an efferdent (Denture) tablet It gets is sparkling! Be sure to run the coffee maker with plain water afterwards...I do that at least twice.Hope that helps!
