How do I get the mildew smell out of my clothes washer?
Question:I live in South Florida (very very very humid) and my washing machine has started smelling like mildew.
Do you think a load of "whites" with a hefty dose of bleach will do the trick?
Answers:
I'm in south Florida too. I would run an empty load with hot water and about 2cups of bleach. I spray the tub of our washer with clorox clean-up once a week and let it sit for a few, then respray and wipe it dry. It helps. another thing you can do is run half cup white vinegar in with your rinse cycle. once the vinegar dries you won't smell it anymore.
Don't actually wash the clothes, just run the washer with bleach in it.
Leave the lid up when you arent using it too.
Run the washer with some vinegar added to the water-how much depends on how bad the smell is.(I know, it sounds strange) I don't know what it is, but if you left a load wet in the washer too long and it smells mildewy or if your clothes smell like smoke, a little vinegar added to the load takes the smell out.
Getting Rid of Odor From Washer
To remove the foul odor from your washing machine let the machine fill with water and when it starts to agitate add about three cups of white vinegar, with a half cup of baking soda. Let the machine run through it's cycles and it will not only get rid of the odor, but will also clean the machine.
=)
Try an empty load on a shor quick cycle with a box of baking soda. I works well with the dishwasher also.
do a wash with baking soda or vineger it should take the odor out
