How do I keep my dishcloths smelling nice and clean?

Question:My tea towels get smelly very quickly, I have tried boiling them in a pot but it is only a week or so before they are smelly again. HELP!

I am assuming you mean they are not used but start to smell in the cupboard?
Use a good laundry detergent with enzymes, such as OMO. Wash on hot, heavy duty cycle. You can add 1 cup of bicarb soda to the washing powder, then add half a cup of white vinegar to the final rinse cycle. This will remove all smells and bacteria. You can also try adding a few drops of your favourite essential oil to the final rinse, such as lavender. This will leave a lasting lovely smell.
Otherwise, you can put a moist tea towel into the microwave for one minute. This will kill all bacteria. Ensure you watch carefully and since microwaves vary, stop and check after 30sec. I do this with my kitchen sponge every week... it keeps it clean and bacteria free, thus smell free.

i clean apartments for a living and i was soaking mine in bleach but it was eating the cloths up to fast...so i started soaking them in mr. clean..a real nice smell and leave them in that until i do a load of dishcloths and things....and they smell great....there is many different fragrances out there that you can use and just put them in the bucket of smelly stuff until you are ready to wash them...it really works
If you are using them they recommend you change to clean ones daily . If just one in storage or for looks they can take in sent from the air . You can nuke them to keep fresh longer. Try a different detergent. Mine stay smelling well for weeks . But I don't use them ( I use paper towels to keep bacteria down)
Try Tide,little bleach & Downey.
I would place them in two caps full of bleach and water and they will keep the clean fresh smell (Clorox Bleach)

Also after a few months I would suggest you throw them away. Even if they are washed they can still carry germs due to what we used them for.
Try soaking them in white vinegar and water. Then wash as usual and add 1/2 cup vinegar to the rinse water.
