Can a scratch be removes from a watch's face?
Question:if so what would be a good substance to use to remove it.

What is the crystal made of? If it is acrylic, you can buy a paste that polishes plastics and acrylics. If it is a mineral crystal it would have to be replaced. If it is a sapphire crystal, the jeweler may be able to buff it out if not too deep.

A neat trick I do is cover the crystal with clear packing tape cut to fit and no scratches...
