Whats wrong with my washing machine?
Question:It runs ok and isnt blocked, the water goes through it ok and it fills and drains well enough but whenever I do a wash it smells like poo. It's only about 6 months old.
Answers:
Mine was like this until last weekend, I ran a very hot wash with a whole bottle of bleach then an extra rinse, smells great now even seems to wash better!
does sound like its blocked
Maybe it just needs a clean. What I do regularly is run a wash load with some disinfectant in the washing liquid section. This usually works.
Use a special washing machine rinse through cleaner, available at most stores.
Stagnant water in the pipes. Try putting the washer on a boil wash with a bit of bleach. This will kill the stagnant smell, and clean all the pipes.
Try running it through a boil wash (highest temperature) when empty just to flush any nasties.
You could even try putting some bleach into it instead of wash powder but make sure it's allowed to run the whole programme all the way through to make sure it's gone before you try your next wash.
You should also get someone to check the drains out, there could be a blockage and you smelling the sewage from the drains rather than a problem with the machine.
could be the filter needs cleaning ?
take a look at this website for info on household products.
hope you sort it out !
There's something rotting between the inner and outer drums. The best answer is to take the drums apart and clean them, but that's a major job (and expensive if someone else does it for you). Try (with an empty machine!) putting bleach in the dispenser and running a high fill wash.
I don't think it has anything to do with your appliance. There's probably a problem in the pipes. Ask a plumber to clean it out for you. If he feels there is a further problem it probably then the next step would be to call the county as there may be a backup or blockage they need to take care of.
Its possible that the waste pipe has not been installed correctly and is syphoning back from the main waste.
Check that the waste pipe is installed at least 600mm ( I'm doing this from memory so look in your installation book) from the floor level,
if it is get a plumber to look at it.
Have you cleaned the filter?
Just take a load of laundry that needs bleaching and run it through a cycle. The bleach will get rid of whatever is smelling and you will have done a load of laundry at the same time! Its good to do that to your washing machine from time to time.
Likely the vent pipe is blocked (or non-existent) and your trap is siphoning out. This allows sewer gas to enter through your washing machine drain. A spring loaded vacuum breaker can be installed if you can't afford the proper fix and should prevent siphoning. Good Luck!
Well maybe you need to put a better cleaner in your wash.
Something which will bring out clothes smelling flowers.
But check the drainage too see if nothing is blocked.
Pour in one cup of white vinegar. Run it through a wash cycle. That takes care of the smells! Do this regularly.
i had this prob ...my dad fitted a drainage pipe just for my washing machine ,,so it wasnt using the same pipe as the sink does .perfect now ...dad was a plumber in his younger days lol
