Steamer better then iron for pressing clothes?

Question:helpless single man here.

my clothes are suddenly coming out of the washer wrinkled. wrinkles dont come out in the dryer. clothes look like i slept in them.
this has never happened before, i dont even own an iron.

anyone know why this suddenly happened ?

someone suggested hard water would cause this, and fabric softener would soften the water. didnt work.

should i get one of those clothes steamers ? or just an iron ?

Answers:
I don't iron. If anything needs ironing, it goes into the dryer with a wet washcloth and that usually does the trick. If that's not working for you, I would suggest a steamer rather than an iron. I just hate ironing. It seems like no matter what I do, I still end up with a crease somewhere. If you don't want to spend on a steamer, you can try hanging up your clothes in the bathroom and cranking the hot water. I turn my bathroom into one big steamer when I have a bunch of stuff to de wrinkle at once. Or if you don't need it right away, just leave it in the bathroom for a few days and let it pick up the shower steam from your normal every day showers. Plus the natural weight from the clothes on a hanger will help work the wrinkles out.

Also, I haven't personally tried it, but have you tried the wrinkle reducer spray(called Downey Wrinkle Releaser)? You can get it in the laundry department of most stores and I've heard it works pretty well. Oh and I would keep using fabric softener (get a downy ball if you haven't already) and use a dryer sheet when you dry the clothes as well. It will help, even if only a little.

Good Luck :-)

Well, I have a steamer and I love it! I have some trouble with getting collars straightened, but overall, i'm very happy with it. I end up saving money- if you buy one, you'll find a solution to your wrinkle problems..
Good Luck!!
i think an iron is a good idea, not only can u then iron things, but you can also steam creases out of items that are non ironable. i did this to my prom dress which i had hemmed, then grew and had to let the hem out. here is how to steam with an iron: you take the iron and put a damp washcloth down on the crease (maybe doubled/folded in half) and then put the iron on top. the heat and water steams out the crease, my prom dress looked good as new! ive also heard of using a wet paper bag instead of a washcloth but i dont know about that one. but i dont know how well this would work if you wanted to steam a large area, but in that case, you could just iron it.
