How do I clean my white fibreglass bath which has gone yellow?
Question:
Answers:
Are you sure it is fiberglass?mine is acrylic, and the people that installed it have a special cleaner you can buy,but whether it is fiberglass or acrylic,do not use an abrasive cleaner,as it will ruin the finish.I would suggest checking with a good home improvement store. Also,a lot of chemicals will have an adverse action on it.
Ammonia
Be sure not to allow chlorine bleach or anything containing it to contact the ammonia - could be fatal.
Liquid Brasso or T-Cut
You may want to try the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. We have a bath tub thats rigged on the bottom to prevent slipping, and I couldn't find anything that would clean it properly--no matter how much I scrubbed, there was still yellow left deep in the bumps & ridges. I bought a pack of these on a whim and they worked like a charm!
Try Scrubbing Bubbles. This is the only product that I could find that would do the job for me in a tub that we had that had a textured bottom to it. Just let it sit for 20 minutes or so after spraying. Then use a Mr. Clean Eraser to finish the cleaning.
It's probably a regular acrylic bath but companies spray fibreglass on the underside to help strengthen the bath when it's full of water and a person. While acrylic is easily moulded, it remains brittle and the GRP is applied to give strength and a degree of flexibility.
