How do I clean the gunk off the rubber gasket in the door of my front loading washing machine?
Question:A dark mold or mildew has accumulated on the bottom inside of the rubber gasket in the door of my front loading washing machine. I can wipe some of it off, but much of it just won't come off. I'm tempted to use bleach or some other cleanser, but I don't want to damage the gasket.

The manufacturer probably suggests what you should use to clean it. Try their website.
I've been able to prevent this by leaving the door open always. It dries out fine on its own and doesn't get moldy. You might wipe it down after each use and leave the door open for several hours to make sure it's dry. Mold won't live in a dry place.
"Goo Gone "works great and wont damage the rubber. You can get it at Drug Mart or Wal Mart its what I use on mine.I apply it with a cotton ball and let it sit a minute then wipe with an old terrycloth rag. Hope it helps
I can suggest this, Use fresh lemon juice & a small amount of fine salt. Mix together in a glass, and with a pastry brush, brush it on , leave for a few min“s then wipe with a sponge and clear water
well eventually gaskets get old cause they are rubber, and would have to be replaced some day anyway. If I were you I'd put on some gloves, and dunk a toothbruch in bleach and go after that mold and remove it. I'd rinse it off and let it dry and then I'd oil it with 3-in-1 oil which would prevent mold.
