What is the best way to get gasoline/its smell out of cotton clothing?

Question:Please only respond if you've had actual experience with this problem...plenty of people without experience have suggested vinegar or milk, but I have my doubts.

And, if possible, give the specific product name of whatever you used to get the gasoline out...or at least where you bought it.

Answers:
My husband just changed our fuel pump on our car, and saturated his jeans in gas, I let them dry outdoors, I then soaked them in a 5 gal bucket of water and 2 cups baking soda overnight. then I washed them in the machine, with regular detergent, and 1 cup baking soda. It worked very well. Also be sure to air dry them first, if not it is possible to ignight flames from the fums in the dryer. Good Luck.

white vinegar
soda
Shout
any of these will work...
Light it on fire, and the smell will go away.

Seriously, hang the garment outside to dry. Gasoline consists entirely of aromatic hydrocarbons, which should evaporate completely, leaving no residue.
My wife just sticks them in the washer and used soap and water and a fabric softner.
vinegar first than baby shampoo
I use GOOP the mechanics white paste handcleaner with lanolin. Rub it to the stain on both sides. Wrap up for 24 hours so it will work. then wash.
