How many hours do you spend cleaning your house in one day?
Question:
Answers:
In one day? Maybe 30 minutes at the most. If you clean a little everyday and pick up after yourself as you go it's not so overwhelming, and will actually take less time to keep clean.
Edit to answer additional details:
Ohh kids, I see now. Well, there's not much the 1 and 3 year olds can do. You might be able to make a game of it with the 3 year old about picking up his toys and putting them in a toy box. Reward him when he does it.
I'm not sure about yours, but when I was raising a 7 and 9 year old they actually wanted to help. They begged me to give them something to do, oddly. I started with little things like taking light bags of trash out to the curb, sweeping the floor, and cleaning their own rooms. I even let them vacuum sometimes. It really depends on their personalities though and what they llike to do or are good at. Wouldn't want to give them anything that you'll have to do over anyway (like cleaning glass, kids always miss spots).
If they don't like to help and are resistant, do things in this order after school: homework, clean your room, 1 light chore, then you can watch TV/ go outside / play games. If you don't, you may not. Keep after them to pick up after themselves. Dirty clothes in the hampers, ect. It won't be so overwhelming for everyone if they learn a little personal responsibility as well.
well i spend about 1 hour though i do bits through the week i dont do it all in one day life is more important than cleaning
Sometimes things that regularly need to be clean can simply be put off utnil later, but if it needs to be clean right away, divide the choirs amongst your older kids and any you want to take care and hopefully it won't be so overwhelming for you by the end of each day.
I have three toddlers; ages 4-1/2, 2-1/2, 15 months. I clean the house top to bottom once a week and it takes me 3 hours. The rest of the time, I just pick up and straighten. They all know that food and drink aren't allowed past the dining room and it also helps that my entire bottom floor is tile.
Have you thought about purchasing a Scooba or a Roomba? Fantastic products that clean for you while you tend to other important things :)
I borrowed some ideas from FlyLady (website link below), and concentrate on one "zone" each week. Every week I do the basics--dust, vacuum, clean the kitchen floor, clean the bathrooms, do laundry, empty wastebaskets--but extra items wait until I get to that zone. FlyLady's plan is to spend 15 minutes per day in the current zone. If the zone is the master bedroom, I might spend the time dusting the blinds, cleaning the windows, washing the comforter, and so on. By doing some of these tasks every month, there's never an overwhelming "spring cleaning."
With all of this, I might spend 30 minutes per day, between the basic weekly jobs and the zone jobs. There's probably another 15-30 minutes per day of picking up clutter, and some time for laundry.
My 9yo has his own chores, which include picking up his own clutter, but he likes to do extra to earn computer privileges.
Right around an hour after the kids go to bed, then I don't have any interruptions and no one to make a mess where I just cleaned.
