Clothes Shrinking.?

Question:If you wash a cotton mix top on a normal 40 degree wash and not a 40 degree delicates wash (generally the wool cycle) would you expect them to shrink? If so why?

yes thats happen to me didnt put on delicate and it shrank
First, you need to state the material the cotton is blended with. Is it wool, man made, acrylic? The lable should give you instructions, or look up the manufacturer.
I've had that problem with rayon fabric...the items can really shrink from top to bottom if you aren't careful. If your top had rayon in the mix, that could be the problem. I always wash rayon items in cold water now, and would do the same with any fabric with rayon in it. Or, you might see "viscose" as part of the fabric description, and that's very similar to rayon and will also shrink. Good luck!
I always wash these things in cold water and ironing seems to bring back the length, hot water will always shrink wool, hand washing is best
