Whats your favorite laundry detergent and why?

Question:Have you tried clorox 2 alternative bleach and had a better outcome on your wash? Do you switch to whats on sale at the supermarket only? Or do you stay with your favorite brand?

Answers:
I use All free and clear because I don't like all of the dyes and perfumes. I also add a scoop of Biz laundry booster to most loads. It is totally awesome stuff that pulls stains out of clothes and works well as a pre-treater.

I use high efficiency (HE) Tide. I'm happy with that and usually buy the same kind every time. I've used cheap brands before with bad results.
Usually b/t Tide & Era both with bleach alternative. They both work great & smell great too. Depends on which is on sale.
I have sensitive skin and use whatever is dye/perfume free and on sale at the supermarket (Although, Target seems to have better prices).
My favorite: Arm & Hammer. My supermarket often has this on sale buy 1 get 1 free...always a bonus!
I uses Tide with bleach, once a blue moon i switch to Clorox so my cloths will hav a change.
I generally buy what's on sale for a good price--Arm & Hammer and Purex are usually the cheapest--and I always buy the type without fragrance. On occasion I've bought Tide or All; I like them but usually I'm not willing to pay the extra cost.
No I have not tried Clorox 2. My favorite detergent is always Tide. It has many other features in them such as Tide w/Downy, Tide w/ Febreze, Low Efficiency Tide, Tide w/ Bleach, ect.. It has so many varieties to choose your needs. I never tried Clorox 2 but I was always curious about it to try. I never switch detergents if they are on sale because I don't want to risk taking a detergent that doesn't clean clothes the way I expect it to be. Unless, its my favorite detergent then I reconsider on purchasing. Other than that I stick with the brand that does best in my cleaning.
I use HE tide. I've been pretty happy with HE tide. I don't have to use as much as the cheaper detergent and my clothes smell clean after wash.
I also use a fabric softener (Downy) along with HE tide, and what I've noticed so far is that I don't have to use as much as what is recommended and still my clothes are clean.
I use and love Gain Joyful Expressions detergent, softner and dryer sheets in Mango Tango. It smells wonderful. I wouldn't use anything else.
i always use all free and clear liquid detergent in the biggest package it comes in.
1. it's usually one of the cheaper brands (compared to tide, gain, etc) and the big jug lasts me about 2 months for 2 adults and a baby
2. it cleans really well and has no dyes or scents added so it is sensitive skin friendly :)
3. for towels, i add about 3/4 white vinegar to the wash to make them smell super fresh and clean (they don't come out smelling like vinegar i promise)

i've never tried clorox2, i use regular bleach on occasion, but try not to because it breaks down natural fibers and your clothes don't last as long. i love bleach to clean, but don't use it on clothes much.

i used to use oxy-clean with my detergent but realized it didn't really do much more than the detergent alone, plus it was fading my clothes!
Old Fashioned Home-Made Laundry Soap

It is (1) better at cleaning than anything I have ever tried (2) better at rinsing out (3) safer for the enviroment, your clothes & the washing machine (4) hypo-allergenic (5) scented with anything you choose (6) fresher (7) safe for even HE (8) at less than 4 cents per load it is a real bargain

So... how to do this
+++ 2 bars of Fels Naptha or Octagon Soap
grate the bars of soap & melt into 2 gallons of water - allow to sit until room temp
+++ add 1/2 cup Borax & 1/2 cup Baking Soda

Stir. pour into jugs (I use juice jugs)
This will get thick & sorta gelled

To use:
++ 1/2 cup mixture
++ one tblsp of Oxyclean (or old fashioned washing soda)
++ in a downy ball put in 1/2 cup vinegar or add this to the rinse cycle
++ a couple of drops of whatever scent... I like Lemon Verbena... my mom likes Lavander.. my son like Cedar... my brother likes Patchauli

The idea is to wash with slight alkanlinity & rinse with slight acid

Clothes come out really clean...even grass stains

Tough stain? dab a little laudry mix on it & let it sit before putting in wash

If at all possible Line-Dry (eliminates static, costs you less money & is better for the environment)
I use the Tide with the Downy Simple Pleasures in it, and additionally use the fabric softener in the washer, then use the fabric softener sheets in the dryer. Everything smells soooo nice. Oh and both my daughter and I have sensitive skin, and none of it bothers us. Before that we used All Clear & Free and before that, All Baby.
EcoSense's MelaPower - it's a 'Green' laundry detergent that uses natural ingredients instead of toxic chemicals to clean your clothes. Plus it's concentrated, and all you need is about 1/4 cup if that to do one load.

I personally don't like to use Tide because it's very irritating on my skin and it contains lots of toxins that stay on your clothes, get into your skin and eventually pollute the water. Plus, it actually redeposits dirt back onto your clothes and wears down the fibers in your clothes so they don't last as long and the colors fade quickly.

Since I've switched to safer alternatives of cleaning, I've noticed that I don't have skin irritations and don't get a headache from all the perfumes they put in Tide, Cheer, Bounce - which you aren't even supposed to put on fabrics (says so on the back of the box). That's just my preference though - plus I feel better about doing my small part to go Green!
