How can I safely keep old baby clothing, without them getting smelly and moldy?
Question:I have some of my children's baby clothing that I would like to save. Whenever I have ever kept clothing in plastic storage containers they always get musty smelling. Sometimes I have found them to become spotty/moldy. How can I safely keep old clothing, or any old keepsakes (ie babybooks, journals, etc.) for that matter, without ruining them?
Answers:
make sure they are completely dry before putting in storage. Then get some of those space saver bags, where you vacuum seal them. Then store in a cedar chest or hope chest of some sort that is lined in cedar. Cedar is a natural insect repellant and will keep the bugs away.
Throw them in a plastic vacuum sealed air-tight bag with a bunch of desiccate packs.
put them in those space bags.
like the ones you see on tv they actually work really well
u put em in an vacuum out the air.
stays safe.
I have baby clothing that I have had storred for several years now. I purchased one of the aire space bags that they advertise on TV. You vaccum seal then and i openned them about a week ago for my sister to look through them for her son and then smelled the exact same as if i was to have put them in yesterday.
Wrap the clothes in acid free tissue paper, you can find this in most chemists, Make sure that when you do store them , store them some where that has plenty ventilation, otherwise they become musty and quickly decay,
