Answers:
I can suggest you soak this area with cold water. Now add SALT, leave the salt on for 10 min´s or so, you should see the stain lifting. then sponge with cold water, you might have to do this a couple of times , but it will lift out. don´t add heat or you´ll be stuck with it

vanish oxy action is quiet good and it's not only for white clothing
I've had really good results with Oxyclean. You can make a paste out of the powder and put it directly on the stain. When you wash the quilt throw some more powder in the water with laundry soap.
water and salt
one cup of salt per gallon will do and let it soak
then wash as normal
try viniger or wine it may sound silly but they are acidic and somtimes work. if the quilt is white try bleach dont leave it on to long 10 mins should be enough. soap is best to get blood off but that tends to work on relativley fresh blood. if not take it to a laundry. by the way im not a serial killer i know how to get blood off coz i work in a laundry good luck.
try soaking it with cider vinegar and bicarb
or get some vanish oxy remover
or
white spirit...
Biz Boil

1/2 cup biz to 2 cups boiling water... let soak until cool

Rinse with cold water

For future referance - always start with hysdrogen peroxide on blood, wash with cold water & repeat until stain is gone...

Do not dry in the dryer until stain is out

in this case... Biz Boil is your only hope & it should work like a charm
Take it to a laundrette with extra large washing machines and give it a good wash.
Blood Stains:
To clean blood stains from clothes reactivate the blood by soaking in cold water for a few minutes. Ring out the water well then pour Hydrogen Peroxide directly on the stain and allow to foam, before washing. The peroxide will break down the protein in the blood and release the stain.

If it is only platelets and plasma left this will do the trick, however if the blood has bonded with the fabric and the red blood cells are whats left you may have a harder time, if this is the case you should try Sugar Paste: Sugar Paste, made of sugar and water, and allowed to sit for one hour, you will not need to scrub, however if possible it will help to break down the stain!!

Hope this helps.

One thing to take note of is just why removal of blood stains is so difficult. The fact is that blood has a considerable amount of iron in it. Blood may bond with the carpeting, shoes, or clothing, left to dry, making it very hard to manage and harder to remove.
Soak in milk and wash
Try hairspray on stain
