Bleach in washing machine?
Question:can you use toilet bleach in a washing machine (empty wash to get rid of smell). can it do something bad to washing machine and how safe it is to wash clothes afterwards?
Answers:
It would be better if you used baking soda. Dump a box of it in the washer, fill it full with warm or hot water and run the washer through the entire cycle. (no clothes of course). I do that with my dishwasher too. I also pour some in the sink drains to freshen them.
Well, you have a rinse cycle, right?
I wash machine with bleach then wash white clothes first after I clean machine. Put 1/2 to 1 cup of bleach turn on washer & let it go threw all cycles just like you were doing laundry. This is an old talent that your Grandmothers did when they had ringer washers, way back before your Mothers time. I use bleach in my toilet tank & camode even down my sinks, it keeps everything smelling clean for a long time. The smell in any drain is from bacteria building up. Yes, bleach will hurt your skin or anything if your not careful with it. Bad for eyes & lungs also, you should NOT mix with any other chemicals, so be very careful when you use this or any product that is harmful, it will say on the label how to use.
WTN.AGAIN...? LOL
noooooooo..do not use toilet bowl or bath / shower cleaners in a washing machine...geech...just use liquid laundry bleach.
Those cleaners are "targeted" type cleaners and some contain an acid that can take the glaze off of the porcelain of your washer tub and even attack the water seal underneath the washer tub.
Just use liquid laundry laundry bleach for cleaning the washer and nothing else.
That odour and mildew is almost always caused by a buildup of powdered soap underneath the washer tub or that the filter has not been cleaned well enough...or both...!
yup, clorox bleach is all you can use...but I think its a good idea to run an empty load with a cup of vinegar every so often.
