How do i get "old" smells out of microwave?

We tryed this at work and it worked very well, in fact we haven't had to do it again for about 6 months. You take a lemon, cut it in two, place it on a microwave safe dish cut side up. Set the microwave to cook the lemon for 5 minutes on high. Once the microwave goes off, do not open it for 30 minutes. After that, take a clean damp cloth to the interior and wipe it down. Not only will it smell heavenly, it will be clean and germ free.

Put a bowl with lemon juice in the microwave, and turn it on for a few min“s. Then sponge with normal dish soap to clean
Obviously, you clean the microwave thoroughly, especially the seam areas. After cleaning with soap and hot water, you might try using Fantastic or Formula 409 on the seam areas spraying the seams several times and letting the solution work it way into the built up grime and odor. Then clean again with soap and hot water to get rid of the cleaning solution.

But, be aware that some smells can not be gotten rid of by cleaning since they are odors that have become embedded in the fan/ventilation area beyond the user's reach, that is, on the inside of the microwave where all the electrical mechanism is located. This can be cleaned by disassembly but I wouldn't recommend it for the average person. For one thing, there's great danger from electrical shock that can cause injury or death. For another, you might screw up some electrical doohickey and ruin the oven.

For odors that are "embedded" internally, there are two options: 1) Simply wait it out. Over time the odors will grow fainter and eventually go away; 2) junk the microwave and get a new one.
put pure lemon juice in a bowl and microwave for about 3 minutes or so.first you would want to clean with a cleaner made for microwaves or dish soap
place a bowl with 2 squeezed lemons and a cup of white wine vinegar on full for 30 seconds and let stand for 1 minute then wipe the inside with the fluid from the bowl this will elimenate all odours no problem
Clean it with baking soda and warm water.
