Why do freezers get that strange smell?
Question:like that stale type of smell...i clean the fridge and the freezer and it looks clean..their isn't any bad food in it but it still has a funky smell what can i do to freshen it up?

put an open box of Baking Soda in it. This will absorb the foul odor. I leave an open box in the freezer and one in the back of the fridge regularly. I change them out about every 2 months or so. Works like a charm!

The funky smell is bacteria caused by food particles.
Take everything out of the freezer/refrigerator. Clean all the grills and drawers with a strong washing solution. Clean the inside walls as well. Boil some water and add 2 tsp. of baking soda to the water. Gently pour the solution into the drainage hole (if your appliance has one). Clean the back of the appliance (the coils) and underneath.
Put all your frozen foods back into the freezer, except for foods older than 3 months. Eat or toss the old stuff.
Maintain the freezer by rotating the foods, oldest foods get used first. When putting food into the freezer for storage, use clean plastic freezer bags and/or containers.
You can also open a box of baking soda and set that inside the freezer/refrigerator; replace it after 2 months.
baking soda... it works great!
If empty they do get smelly - try the old Arm & Hammer baking soda trick - just put an open box in the fridge and it will suck up odors.
